DOST JLSS Scholarship Online Application for the AY 2024-2025 is now open to apply for all eligible Filipino college students. JLSS Scholarship is one of the scholarship programs initiated by the Department of Science and Technology – DOST.

DOST Scholarship 2024-2025

The Department of Science and Technology is popularly known as DOST. DOST is a government organization in the Philippines responsible for the development and administration of science and technology in the country.

To achieve the goal of Scientific and Technological development, DOST offers scholarship opportunities to the students pursuing education in the fields of science and technology.

DOST JLSS Scholarship offers scholarship grants to the students in the Junior Level Science education. Recently, the Department of Science and Technology made a post on its Facebook page calling in applications from interested and eligible individuals to apply for DOST JLSS Scholarship for the School year 2024-2025.

Types of DOST Scholarships

DOST offers three main scholarship grants under the JLSS Scholarship program and they are as follows:

  1. DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship
  2. RA 7687
  3. RA 10612

DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship

The DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program is formerly known as the NSDB or NSTA Scholarship under RA No. 2067. This scholarship grant is offered to students with high aptitude in science and mathematics who wish to pursue careers in science and technology.

RA 7687

The Republic Act No. 7687 is popularly known as the “Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994″. The RA 7687 scholarship grant is given to deserving students whose families’ socioeconomic situation does not exceed particular cut-off numbers.

Qualifiers must pursue priority courses of study in the basic sciences, engineering, other applied sciences, and science and mathematics teaching.

RA 10612

The Republic Act No. 10612 seeks to improve the country’s scientific and technology education by accelerating the recruitment of graduates in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering to teach science and mathematics in secondary schools around the country.

Benefits of DOST JLSS Scholarship

Students who are selected for DOST JLSS Scholarship 2024 program will receive the following benefits:

A. Regular Academic Year

Tuition and other school fees (for scholars enrolled in private HEIs)₱40,000.00 / year
Book Allowance₱10,000.00 / year
Monthly Living Allowance₱7,000.00 / month
Transportation Allowance(for those studying outside of home province)1 economy-class roundtrip fare
Group Health and Accident InsurancePremium
Thesis Allowance₱10,000.00
Graduation Allowance₱1,000.00

B. Summer Allowance (if required in the curriculum)

Tuition and other school fees₱10,000.00
Learning Materials and/or Connectivity Allowance₱2,000.00 (outright grant)
Monthly Living Allowance₱7,000.00 / month for two months

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for DOST JLSS Scholarship, one must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

  1. The applicant must be a Regular second year college student enrolled in a DOST-SEI priority S&T course at identified universities in the Second Semester of AY 2023-2024.
  2. He or She must have a General Weighted Average, GWA of at least 83% or its equivalent and with no conditional or failing mark from the First Semester of First Year until the First Semester of Second Year in college, including in the midyear terms, if enrolled.
  3. He or She must be natural-born Filipino citizen.
  4. Must be of good moral character and in good health.
  5. The candidate may have:
    • Applied for/taken the Junior Level Science Scholarship Examination but DID NOT QUALIFY for the scholarship.
    • Qualified for the Junior Level Science Scholarship but DID NOT AVAIL of the scholarship award.

Following is the list of documents required to apply for DOST Scholarship 2024:

  1. Form C – Certificate of Good Moral Character
  2. Form D – Certificate of Good Health
  3. Form E – Certificate of Program of Study and Year Level
  4. Form F – Certificate of Residency
  5. Form G – Commitment to Return Service
    • Form Form G1 – Merit/ RA 7687
    • Form Form G2 – RA 10612
  6. Form H – DOST-SEI Scholarship Examination/Award
  7. Form I – Applicant/Parent Declaration
  8. Official Transcript of Records (TOR) or True Copy of Grades (TCG) or Grade Report downloaded from the portal for First Semester of First Year until the First Semester of Second Year in college, including in the midyear terms, if enrolled.
  9. Recent picture – passport size (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm or 1.8 inches x 1.4 inches)
  10. Birth Certificate
  11. Proof of Income – Parent/s or Legal Guardian’s or Spouse’s 2023 Income Tax Return / BIR Form 1701 / Employment Contract for OFW / BIR Certificate of Exemption from Filing of ITR / Certificate of Indigency / Certificate of Employment with Compensation / Proof of Pension
  12. Notarized Affidavit of Guardianship
  13. Marriage Certificate

  • Private Institutions that are recognized by CHED as Centers of Excellence or Centers of Development or has FAAP Level III accreditation (PAASCU, PACUCOA) for the priority S&T programs of study
  • For RA 10612: All of the above and schools that offer CHED compliant courses that are included in the list of priority S&T programs of study

DOST JLSS Scholarship Online Application starts on 4 March, 2024.

The Deadline date to apply for DOST JLSS Scholarship is 31 May, 2024.

The Schedule of Qualifying Examination for DOST Scholarship is 28 July, 2024.
